Well my Devils have been a little off lately, and that trend continued last night.  The most alarming thing about this loss was the overall sloppiness of play.  The passes were off, the hits were weak, and we were outplayed plain and simple (except for the final 8 minutes).  It is hard to point a finger to exactly where the issue lies too because it is seems like everyone. 

Kudos go to Sutter though for having the balls to pull Clemm on the power play with 8 minutes to play.  Give Sutter a match in the rain and he might start a fire, and he might not, but you bet your ass he is going to try.

We get Atlanta at the Rock on Thursday, and then six games in ten days on the road. Others have been saying this will be tough with the Devils playing in a funk as of late, but I disagree.  Atlanta is a game we should win.  Of the opponents we face on the road (Kings, Ducks, Canucks with Sundin, BlueJackets, Islanders and Predators) only the Ducks and 'maybe' the Jackets scare me.  Of course in today's NHL any team can win on any given night (unless the Sharks are playing the Isles every night, ha!) so we need to get our shit together.  But consider that this season we have been very good on the road, and I say this stretch is just what we need....well that and for Zubrus to get his playing legs back.

We'll see how it goes and I'll talk to you on Friday after the win over Atlanta.

Sports are on my brain (big surprise, right?) right now and I could go on and on (and on) about how I hate the Rangers, the Yankees, etc., but that is not really based on logic, so I won't. Instead, let me tell you about a few musical things I hate, and why:

1. Bruce Springsteen playing SuperBowl half time this year. Bruce sucks, plain and simple.  He has like one topic he sings about and he has made a career out of it.  Good for him, but I don't have to like it.  Yeah you long for the 50's, you lost your job, you love Jersey, you're blue collar...yeah we get it....enough already.  You should not have been allowed to release anything new since 1980. Like I said, ENOUGH ALREADY.

2. The Offspring / Green Day. In a word...SUCK.  Punk is dead, plain and simple.  Because your music is simple and stupid doesn't make it punk, it makes it suck. Sorry, there is no such thing as New Punk. And don't come at me with "...but American Idiot is good."  No. It's Not. It Sucks.

3. Metallica. Now, I used to like Metallica growing up....but they sold out. They did, argue all you want but it's true.  While I am not against cashing in and making all you can off of something, please don't pass yourself off as artistic and having integrity while doing so. For Lars to say that Napster was taking food from his kid's mouthes sounded very much like integrity flying out the window.  The Dave Mustaine Metallica would have encouraged fans to pirate everything they could. 
    Kill 'em All was great, in fact Master of Puppets and everything before it was good.  EVERYTHING AFTER SUCKED ABSOLUTE ASS.  It did. Sorry, yes it did. And if I hear "...wait, but their new album is back to their roots" one more time I will kick my own ass.  They say that with EVERY DAMN ALBUM.  St. Anger?  Come fucking on. You are done, irrelevant and over....just accept it. End of story.
